A 2D platformer where you have to save a town that has become overrun by outlaws. A short video featuring the game and my level design work can be viewed below.
References
Since the whole game is about the wild west, me and my team looked for references fitting the western style we were looking for. Things such as wagons to hay bales and saloons were some of the top things we needed to look at to nail the overall style. We also looked into the background environment to make the game truly pop out, as you can see from the mood board below.

2D Maps
With a lot of the focus being on the gunplay, there isn't much actual platforming you can see in the maps below. Instead the main things required here were enemies, crates and extra mechanics like breakable rope. I also planned to have the level take place in multiple areas like a saloon and bank. These had to be cut out due to time constraints, but I was still able to keep the level design about the same by making the entire level take place outdoors instead.

Blockouts
Using some placeholder models created by other team members, I put together parts of the level within Unity. The whitebox below shows that I kept the level design as accurate as I could, while also leaving room for some buildings in the background to help solidify the feeling of being in a western area. It also helped see whether the enemies or crates were in the right positions, as it needed to be clear if the player can properly see the enemies and if they can properly hide behind something to avoid getting shot.
